AREAS OF EXPERTISE & SPECIALTIES

If I had to define my style of therapy it would be a mix of collaborative, mindfulness, emotionally focused and cognitive behavioral therapy. Most importantly, my focus is on connecting with my clients and helping them harness the control to make the changes they desire. Areas of special focus include cancer and other life-threatening illness support, grief therapy, couple’s work, young adults and that phase of life transition as well as business support (ownership, leadership, personal development and communication).

MY THERAPY BELIEFS

I look at therapy as a partnership; hence my collaborative style. I believe we all have a “map” for how to navigate. My role is most often meeting someone where they are on “their map” and strategize/goal plan for how we get to the place they desire to be. There is no greater reward than helping someone thrive with the tools they already possess.

COMMON TYPES OF CLIENTS I HELP

My clients are goal oriented. They recognize the value of therapy and are willing to invest the energy for the desired end-goal. My clients also recognize that the “fix” or “desired change” needs to be initiated and executed by them, not me. My role is to lend support and offer unbiased feedback, not make the changes for them.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING A THERAPIST

The positive impact that I am a part of everyday is what I most love about being a therapist. From the big successes to the smallest of ones, it is highly rewarding to witness people harness their own resources and potential.

MY PERSONAL LIFE AND INTERESTS

Above all else, my family comes first. There is no greater asset in my life, nothing I am more proud of, than my family. From my husband and children, to my family of origin, I am the person I am today, better or worse, because of my family. Sharing time with them brings great joy. I also find joy in traveling, gardening, being active with numerous sports, being with my friends, reading and being outdoors.

SOMETHING NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT ME

Something no one knows… I grace the pages of a Tai Chi book that is on bookstore shelves all over the world. DK London Press spent a week in Madison years ago photographing us models as we demonstrated proper Tai Chi poses. The purpose of the book was to offer Tai Chi in simple to understand terms so that one could easily adopt the practice.
